HISTORY– WESTERN CIVILIZATION I
Collaborative Archaeology/Historic Sites Project (StoryMap.js)
Purpose of the Assignment
This is a semester-long assignment with the purpose of researching and learning about archaeological discoveries that have contributed to the known information about Western History. Students will examine information about these historic sites in academic articles, online books, archeology journals, university websites, encyclopedias, and the UNESCO World Heritage site. This research will allow students to understand how archaeology and historical preservation has played an extremely important role in helping historians to understand the past and shape its interpretation. The assignment will also provide students with research and writing skills necessary in academic environments. Students will draft a short article about their assigned archaeological sites using their collected sources, which will be revised and submitted into a collective Digital History platform (StoryMap.js).
