Discussion Question 2: Historically, one form of indirect institutional discrimination has involved height and weight requirements for police officers and firefighters. In San Francisco, for example, many Asian Americans did not meet height and weight requirements for police and fire departments; the requirements had been established based on existing personnel, most of whom were white males. Requirements were modified after a series of lawsuits. Discuss institutional discrimination that still takes place today.
