Topic choice A

You will construct a persuasive argument for what you believe should be the adoptive healthcare system of the United States. Again, focus your argument on how your healthcare system would optimize cost, access, and quality. To best present your healthcare system, you will need to compare, contrast, and even borrow from aspects of different healthcare systems around the world that we’ve examined in class.

Explain your position on the issue and support your argument with evidence in a letter to the President-elect of the United States. You will also reference other sources you find by doing your own research.

Topic choice B

Cultural competency continues to be important issue of increasing importance in the American healthcare system. In your essay, define what is meant by cultural competence in healthcare. Also, discuss how cultural competence affects the access and quality of care to minorities. Discuss how optimizing cultural competence could affect the cost of health care overall in this US. Discuss a strong current example or examples of how improved cultural competence could prolong the quality of life or even potentially save lives. Be sure to properly include and cite your references.

Requirements: 3-4 pages, size 12 font, double spaced, 1- inch margins, citations where appropriate. Chicago-style footnotes and annotations as discussed in class.
