PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT EXERCISE

A pre-mortem, or premortem, is a managerial strategy in which a project team imagines that a project or organization has failed, and then works backward to determine what potentially could lead to the failure of the project or organization.
Attached to this order is a Portfolio Analysis Report on the firm Stryker Corporation which is comprised of 7 sections as follows:
1) Business Model (what does this firm do?)
2) Value Proposition (what makes this firm different from its competitors?)
3) Competitive Analysis (use Porter’s 5 Forces model)
4) Quality of Management:
5) The numbers
6) Portfolio Performance compared to the benchmark (the benchmark I use is the S&P 500over that period). Report the Sharpe ratio. The risk-free rate is the rate for US 10-year bonds.This is a yearly rate so you will need to adjust it for the 9 weeks out of 52 weeks that you invested for this exercise.
7) Conclusions / Pearls of Wisdom / Lessons Learnt

What is required of you is to conduct a pre-mortem analysis for the first 4 sections of Stryker’s Portfolio Analysis report I have attached. You must identify the vulnerabilities in each section from 1 through 4, where you will have to analyze the problem area’s that caused the firm to “fail” and make recommendations accordingly, what do you think went wrong and what should be done to change it, and why?
