Com 101 (worth 20% of final grade)

Your first step is to choose a course reading as your primary source. Do not select a course writing that you already wrote about in the summary and analytical argument essays. Then decide what you would like to research in connection with it. You could choose to simply read more literature by the same author. This additional literature would be considered secondary source research material, and your essay would end up being about the author’s writings (for example, theme, style, techniques, imagery, symbolism, character, or setting). Another option would be to research what literary critics have written about the literary work covered in the course. Your secondary source research might include books or articles that critics have written about your chosen literary work. Another alternative would be to research a contextual topic that comes up in a work, such as Indigenous perspectives of the land, environmental preservation, viral misinformation in current media, drug use, race, or gender representation. You can choose to research any context that interests you; it could be literary, historical, environmental, educational, political, or psychological, for example.

Please ensure that your essay of approximately 1,000 words is written with APA style documentation, which includes in-text citations in brackets AND references at the end. We will be submitting the research essays through Assignments using SafeAssign to check for plagiarism. This is a test run of this submission method, which we will use for the final exam.
