Educational Journey

Telling our own Educational Journey is vital to our existence as people, and potentially as future educators. The Educational Journey is a story about challenges, hardships, triumphs, breakthroughs, and sources of inspiration. What have been the most empowering and disempowering educational experiences you have had across your Educational Journey? Consider PK-12, community/volunteer experiences, work experiences, etc. Think about key teachers, important leadership experiences in high school or college, or important setbacks that later turned into motivational moments or not.

This is your opportunity to tell your story that we rarely get to do given the typically narrow approaches to teaching and learning in the K-12 system. For instance, How has your race, ethnic background, social class, gender, religion, accessibility, and/or sexuality shaped your Educational Journey?

How have socio-cultural forces shaped your Educational Journey (keep in mind the readings on socialization/culture and attempt to weave in key themes, if relevant)? How have equitable or inequitable policies or practices shaped your Educational Journey? How has your geography (where you lived) affected your Educational Journey?
