Yes, I agree that public health professionals should promote policies that the most effective or those that are the best value for the dollar. For instance, if the policy is for schools to only buy and sell healthy food products to the students and staff to promote health and wellness, such as preventing childhood cardiovascular diseases and obesity. This policy might require the school to pay more money in buying fresh organic fruits and veggies, which might be expensive rather than the cheaper option of buying burgers and unhealthy products. Therefore, this example shows that the policy would be considered effective and is the best value for the dollar, because data would show over a period of time the health status within the school would improve and the cost is worth it (Teitelbaum, & Wilensky, 2017; Hamilton et al, 2018).

Economic principle is described as the act of fulfilling the consumer’s demand or wants when there are limited resources therefore, policy-making officials need to encompass laws and ideas such as trading. An example from a research literature demonstrates that hospitals sometimes practice allocation when dealing with scarcity, marginal, opportunity cost, and utility. For example, the public health policymakers decided that they wanted to maximize the effectiveness of an antibiotic drug so that individuals do not become resistant to it. This required the physicians to fully research the product and then decided what its trade-off value would be. However, depending on the cost and resource used to make the product, scarcity might occur (Scott et al, 2001).
