Introduction
In this lab, students will further examine the direct current (DC) parameters for an N-Channel Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) using the amplifier circuit pictured below.

In this course, we will be using LTspice to simulate majority of our circuit designs before utilizing any measurement tools. LTspice can be downloaded here and the documentation can be found here.
Keysight Remote Lab Instructions (Students)
For the remainder of the course we will be utilizing the Keysight Software for Remote Measurement.
In your internet browser of choice (Mac – Safari,

On the Desktop, Launch the
Keysight BenchVue software, this is where you will be able to access and perform measurement tools virtually. |

Background
Unlike their transistor counterparts (i.e. Bipolar Junction Transistors), Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors, MOSFETS, are voltage-driven components consisting of a single current ID. There are, however, three modes of operation that can be expected from these devices. The modes of operation as well as the formulas, for an N-channel MOSFET, can be found below:
Pre-Lab
Assume the following design specifications for the circuit in figure 4: W/L = 1, k’n = 0.0934174 mA/V2, Vtn = 2.236 V, and l = 0. Calculate IRG1, IRG2, ID, VG, VD, VS and provide the measured values in the ‘Hand Calculation’ section on table 1. (Show All Work)
