Part II. Short Answer (50 points):
Answer two of the following in a short essay/paragraph of a minimum of six to eight sentences in length: BE SPECIFIC IN YOUR ANSWERS!!
1.) Many of the pieces of literature that we have read and discussed this semester contain a strong underlying theme that seems to move the literature (and its writer) along. Some, though not all, of these include religion, freedom, morality, arrogance, and even a level of superiority. Choosing a piece of literature, identify a major theme that you have noticed and explain how this particular component has played an important role in the story’s message as a whole and what takes place within it.
2.) Choosing one specific character that we have encountered thus far this semester, explain how you yourself are able to identify with that particular character and his or her experiences as they are described in the literature.
3.) Discuss the use of humor as found in one or more of the pieces that we have studied and discussed so far this semester. How does it add to or take away from the overall poem as a whole?
