The article above is a quantitative study about how professional athletes responded to the multiple police killing of black men in 2015. Previously, athletes were reluctant to use their platforms to stand up to these injustices which is what prompted the case study. The athletes participated in the “hands up, don’t shoot campaign” before games. Researchers used these acts to study the public’s response. In this study, N was fan-related comments, related to the “hands up, don’t shoot” act. Fans felt as though the players should not have been involved in these social injustices and other fans felt they should be punished. Also, a small percent felt as though the fans were in their right to express their feelings about the issue. These are the dependent variables.

The only data that could be wrong is the use of fake pages. Because the researcher took samples from online fans commenting, there is no way to know for sure that the person behind the screen doesn’t have multiple pages that they are commenting from.
