Playwright project

Playwriting project Write the basic structure for a full-length play and two pages of dialogue.
It will look like this: Stasis: At least five sentences fully describing the stasis of your play. Inciting Incident: One sentence describing the inciting incident. Complication 1: One sentence describing complication number 1 Complication 2: One sentence describing complication number 2 Complication 3: One sentence describing complication number 3 Climax: One sentence describing the climax. New Stasis: At least four sentences fully describing the new stasis. Two pages of dialogue These two pages are ANY two pages from the play; they do not have to contain a clear beginning, middle and end. These two pages should not contain any leaps in time – it should take place in “real” continuous time – no skipping ahead or backward!! The ‘scene’ must contain two-four characters and should contain stage directions so that the audience can understand what is going on. This dialogue will be read in class. The playwright (you) will read the above structure and introduce the scene as well as reading the stage directions. The playwright will not act in their own play. Bring to class: One copy of above structure for yourself and a copy of the scene for each actor; if there are three actors in the scene, you will bring four copies of the dialogue (one for each actor and one for you to read stage directions from). Dialogue format: Stage directions in italics describing the location and any other necessary information about the scene. Character’s name: character line. Another character’s name: character line. First character or another character’s name: character line. Any physical actions the characters make should be written in italics at the appropriate time. Etc. for two pages. A minimum of two full pages of dialogue (double spacing in between each character’s line and possibly including stage directions) is required.
