Task 1 assesses Learning Outcomes 1 and 3

Presentation 30% 15 Minutes.

Consider an aspect of practice in your workplace where health and wellbeing could be improved for service users or/and staff. Research the key values and principles pertaining to the issue including your own personal and professional development.

Present a plan to conduct your research project. This should include a clear rationale for your choice, and how it will impact on the workplace and professional practice, including timescales and consultation.

Analyse the ethical considerations of your project and how these will impact on your practice and research. You must adhere to the requirements of the Leeds City College ethics committee. An application for ethical approval, consent from the setting and an example of participants informed consent form must be submitted with the presentation.

Introduction

Your presentation needs a beginning. Ensure you tell the reader what your presentation will be about. You may also want to include the type of setting where your project will take place (Remember confidentiality – do not disclose the name of the setting). You may also want to discuss your role in the setting.

Aim and Rationale

In this section, you need to explain the research question you have chosen. Why have you chosen to research this topic? What do you hope to find out and achieve from doing this research?

Professional and Personal Development

How will doing this research impact on your personal and professional development? What impact will this and the research have on the service users, setting and staff ?

Ethical considerations

Explain the steps you will take to ensure your research is carried out ethically. Also mentioned that you have applied for ethical approval from the college research ethics committee (You should know the outcome by the time you do the presentation). Also explain the participants informed consent form – this should be included in the appendix. How will you ensure the participants and their information are kept safe during the research ? How will you secure the data safely ? Will this be on a password protected device ? Who have you consulted with at your setting ? Who has given you permission to carry out the research with the service users and staff ? Ensure you make reference to ethical guidelines in this section for example BERA, Data Protection, Confidentiality etc.

Time Frame and Plan

You need to clearly state how you will carry out the research and when. The stages need to be very specific for example you may state you will begin to hand out questionnaires on 5th January and collect these back in on the 20th January. You may state that you will begin to interpret and analyse these questionnaires on the 31st January and finish doing this on February 10th etc. Ensure you also state when you will finish collecting all data and start writing the assignment. You may find it easier to do this section as a visual timeline and then explain it when you are presenting.

Conclusion

Ensure your presentation has an end and does not end abruptly. Consider doing this first.

Reference List

Ensure you include all the sources you have used in your work on the reference list. This MUST be in the Harvard referencing style. If you do not know how to reference following Harvard you need to book a tutorial with Sam the librarian ASAP and also access the guide to Harvard referencing which is on Google Classroom.

Appendices

In this section, you need to include an example of your participant informed consent form. A copy of this is on Google Classroom and you must edit it with your details.
