GRADING CRITERIA for all 4 Projects:

2000-3000 words in length (This is approximately 8 pages, if double-spaced.) Any paper longer or shorter than the assignment will be deducted a percentage of the grade based on the deficiency or overage. A paper of the correct length DOES NOT guarantee a score of 100, but it does mean this criterion meets the 20 ranking.
Papers must use the style in the current edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (also known as the APA style). For more information about APA 6th edition style, please go to http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/
(Links to an external site.)
. The student will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in research and documentation skills. Any quotations, ideas, or expressions that you borrow from other sources must be credited and documented using APA documentation style. Grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills are among those areas with which you are expected to be familiar. If this is not the case, you will correct the deficiencies through individual work, utilize computer-assistance programs, or suffer lower grades. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you plagiarize, you may be given an F for the course and reported to the University officials. Please note: All written assignments may be checked to reduce the likelihood of plagiarized work. A paper with perfectly correct style (including spelling, word-usage, grammar, and documentation) DOES NOT guarantee a score of 100, but it does mean this criterion meets the 20 ranking.
Papers must THOROUGHLY discuss the issue, including elaborate Toulminian analysis. A paper which exhaustively considers pertinent warrants, data, claims, rebuttals, backings, and qualifiers DOES NOT guarantee a score of 100, but it does mean this criterion meets the 20 ranking.
You must TAKE A DEFINITE POSITION on the issue. This is not a REPORT; it is an ARGUMENT. Do not conclude that you are agnostic on the position. If you are an agnostic on a given issue, choose a position and use a Toulminian qualifier, or choose a DIFFERENT issue to argue. A paper that takes a definite position DOES NOT guarantee a score of 100, but it does mean this criterion meets the 20 ranking.
Include (and identify) both inductive and deductive reasoning in your argument. A paper that uses and identifies both inductive and deductive reasoning DOES NOT guarantee a score of 100, but it does mean this criterion meets the 20 ranking.

Be aware of the evaluation criteria. Each of the 5 criteria listed above is worth 20 points—for a possible total score of 100 on this assignment.
