Final Paper Outlines: The first draft is going to be rather simple and a relatively low stress assignment and it will be due in the next few weeks. The “draft” is an outline (please, do not write this out in paragraph form). This assignment is designed so I can see where you are at and where you are headed with your paper. Moreover, since this isn’t a formal assignment and it will be posted on the discussion board (please, only post 1 post per group). There is no minimum length for your first draft, but your outline should paint a fairly clear picture of where your project is headed. If you don’t offer enough information, I won’t be able to offer you constructive feedback. The more effort you put into this the better. I have outlined a the basic concepts that I would like you to include in your first draft below. The concepts mentioned below are the bare minimum, if you want to add more information to your draft, you may do so.  Note: Please make an outline not an actual draft. This assignment is set up to keep you on track. First Draft Outline  State the compelling social issue that you (and your partner) and writing about for your final paper Explain why it is meaningful to you Explain why it is controversial Explain the arguments that support different positions on the issue (remember this paper is framed as a debate) What are the benefits of each position? What are the drawback to each position? Who benefits from each position?  What position do you take and why?  What articles are you using to develop your argument/paper? (Please make formal references for this. I want to make sure you have found a couple solid academic articles to support your position. If you don’t know what I mean by “academic article” please send me an E-mail, but, in short, these are articles that are published in peer reviewed journals and not newspapers, magazines, or websites.)
