As I fall in, deep, deep, in the long corridor of my mind, I like to observe the shiny, black marble floors that seems to go on forever and ever…both, on the left, and on the right, there are doors that also go on forever…some doors are locked, some doors are unlocked and are seamlessly accessible, some doors have hidden keys, while some doors have lost keys, although if I think hard, I know I could find where I’ve tried to lose the keys. There is also that door; the door with the golden knob. I never go in there, and seldom do I even like to walk near that door, however, in my shiny, marble corridor I am happy. Occasionally there are comfortable, cushy, red velvet couches, where I sit and enjoy the beauty of my corridor. On the walls there are beautiful family pictures, pictures of me, when I was two years old, pictures of my mother and father, along with my brother, pictures of my Christmas trees throughout the years, pictures of beach days, parks and car drives through Miami Beach, pictures of friends, Maslene, school teachers, Ms. Fletcher, pictures of my childhood house in little Havana, Citrus Grove Elementary, pictures of me as a teenager with long hair, amazing pictures, happy pictures, all pictures are good, framed and beautifully hung on the left or on the right of my corridor in between those doors. The lighting is perfect. The chandeliers allows the crystal to bounce off light and everything is perfect, perfect…I keep this corridor in perfect shape. However, behind some of those doors tells a tale, the true story and some of the nightmares of the history of my life.

Writing Assignment

The first step in composing this paper is to conceptualize your brain. My brain has a long corridor with many doors on the left and on the right. Each door holds a memory. However you might want to conceptualize your brain differently. My suggestion is that you read some of the sample papers that students have written, so you can see how they have conceptualized their brains. Your entire writing will occur within the way you conceptualize your brain. Some students conceptualize their brain as an ocean, or a valley, or possibly an underground cave, all holding the memories of their lives.

This writing assignment will demand four bodies of information: The way you conceptulaize your brain, the slam poem of your choice, The memory behind the door (such as in my brain) and the research.

Logic: Read a whole bunch of these slam poems in Module 3, observe if any of the doors open in the corridor of your mind. Execute research on one of the issues that is found behind your door.

MLA

Your paper must have 3 quotes from the slam poem. The paper should also include three quotes from an article (research). Your paper must follow all MLA rules, and a works cited page must be included based on your one source.
