At the begging of the paper, in the Introductory paragraph state whether the source’s argument is persuasive or not. Then, the lest of the paper discusses the reasons why.

Please do no one thing though in the argument analysis essay please do not summarize the source. So, another words you’re not going to be telling readers what the source says or what is about. That’s summary not an analysis. Instead of summarizing the source which you will be doing is judging or evaluating or critiquing or analyzing the source’s argument. Again, your task in the argument analysis essay is the determine whether the source’s argument is persuasive or not and then to explain why.

The Source you choose must

1. Make an argument
2. Oppose your prospective thesis
3. Be scholarly
4. Does the source cite at least 10 other sources in footnotes, endnotes, or parenthetical citations?
5. Does the source cite at least 10 other sources on a Works Cited or Bibliography page?
6. Has the source been peer reviewed?

Introductory Paragraph

1. The first paragraph of an academic essay is called the essay introduction. In the introduction of your paper you’ll answer the first question is the argument persuasive so by the end of the introductory paragraph you should have stayed in your answer to this question very clearly whatever source you chosen analyze tell readers whether the argument of that source is persuasive or not persuasive. You can say that the argument is partially persuasive and partially unpersuasive you can say that the argument is generally persuasive and so on by the end of the first paragraph of the essay. Do use the word persuasive. Introductory paragraph is 10% of total essay. 10% of five pages is ½ page.

1. Sentence 1: Introduce the source’s author, title, and topic
2. Sentence 2: Summarize the source’s thesis
3. Summarize the source’s methods and materials
4. Give two reasons why the source is persuasive (use actual word persuasive)
5. Give tow reasons why the source is not persuasive (use actual word persuasive)
6. State your overall assessment of the source’s persuasiveness
