As a revenue auditor with a strong desire and qualifications to become an out of state auditor, I am writing this letter of intent to express my interest in this position. I believe that my enthusiastic attitude, as well as my experience in the field, will make me capable to fulfill this job’s requirement ideally.

I graduated from Portland State University with a major in Accounting andobtained my MBA degree with the concentration in Finance at the University of Portland. I have passed all CPA exams pending license approval by Board of Accountancy. My next goal is to become a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

On the progress of self-grown, I find it is very important to have the willingness to learn, strong work ethic and positive attitude. I like to learn, I am still learning, and I will never stop. I do believe thatalthough something may be functional, there is always room for improvement.Therefore, I continue finding different ways to work better, faster, more efficient in order to save resources. I am always willing to take on as manytasks as I can handle. I take responsibility for them and it is important to me to do well. I take the initiative to accept new assignment because I believe no job is too big or too small,and that I can always develop something from it.In a diverse environment like DOR, where we work with many colleagues and customers who come from different backgrounds and cultures, I have maintained a positive and attentive work attitude. I never hesitate to ask questions on issues that are outside of my purview. I am very fortunate to be able to build a great network of knowledgeable resource in my Vancouver office and other DOR field offices. Besides using the knowledge in auditing, I also undertake consulting requests and participate in new business outreach seminars to connect with taxpayers, educate and answer their questions about Washington tax laws.  I have received complimentby both my peers and the taxpayers I have worked withfor my ability to help and answer questions in an empathic and professional manner.

I have three years’ experienceworking in accounting professional and one year in auditing as a revenue auditor 1. I have participated in audits from a full range of industries and I am willing to take on more to help me learn and grow.In addition, studying and passing CPA exams have also equipped me great set of knowledge, skills and confidence to independently tackle small to mid-sized national and multinational business firms to protect public interest. I have worked with many difficult taxpayers and their representatives. By doing so, Iadvance my skills in active listening, good understanding about the industries, law researching, and reading comprehension. These have helped me tremendously in establishing a rapport with taxpayers, completing complex audits, and investigating frauds. Besides that, I am greatly efficient in excel, common accounting software and technology. I love to help, and I am always ready to give others a hand and share what I know. Subsequently, I was able to assist senior auditors both in Vancouver office as well as the out-of-state team on their largeaccounts. I enjoyworking on complicatedrecords to analyze, clean and transform them intouseful data/informationfor decision-making. In addition, I have worked with sales and use tax, andEconomy Nexus in more than 30 states at my previous job, and I think Washington State tax is one of the most complex system. I find it very satisfying to be able to grasp complex concepts and turn them into solid and easy to follow information for users/taxpayers. I have received good feedbacks from my supervisor and coworkers about my ability and professional judgment.

The two things that keep me thriving in life are my family and my curiosity for the world. My family enjoys living in the pacific northwest because of the wonderful nature here. We also love to travel and explore the many places and cultures around the world. Beside the opportunity to work on complex accounts, the job gives me the chance to see new places and meeting new people, where I can constantly learn new things, to be open minded and to improve myself. That is why becoming a rover is my ultimate career goal.
