How were African Americans viewed and integrated in baseball in the period circa 1930-1960?
African Americans have been mistreated and have been the victims of intense racism since they first came to America as slaves. Now, they are a significant part of America’s current population, for they are more than 40% of the current American population. African Americans have contributed to politics, religion, economic development, and culture. Narrowing down to sports, African Americans were integrated into various sports throughout the history of the United States. Intense racial injustice still occurred in these sports, and that is no different in baseball. Since their integration, they have contributed to the game in numerous ways and some of the best players in history have been African American. However, this did not happen easily. African Americans faced the challenge of racism from opposing players, fans, and media.
