Instructions:
You must refer to a minimum of two other sources from the course or elsewhere to support your argument. Illustrate your points with examples.
The assignment should be about 1000 words in length.

Formatting
Assignments must be written in 12 point font and double-spaced.
The first page of your assignments should have your name, student number, course code, and word count in the top left corner. Below this please insert your title centered on the page and in bold font or underlined. The text of your assignment should begin below this on the same page.
Your assignment must have page numbers.
Here is a sample first page with the required title format and using in-text citation style.
Referencing
Follow a standard bibliographic referencing style. The American Anthropologist guide to citation and referencing (http://www.aaanet.org/publications/style_guide.pdf) provides a template standard in anthropology that you may wish to follow.
Use in-text citations (not numerical or footnote styles). Include page numbers when you are referring to specific points or numerical data or figures on particular pages from a source. If you are referring to the overall argument of a source, you do not need to include a page number.
Each of your references must be a proper academic source. Some websites are considered proper sources of information, but they should be used for supplementary purposes. Academic journal articles and books should be your primary sources of reference. How to avoid charges of plagiarism:
Papers (or parts of papers) previously submitted for other courses will not be accepted.
All papers will be scanned and run through plagiarism-detecting software.
Citing your sources:
Remember that if you quote more than 5 words in a row from your article/book (or any source), you MUST put them in quotation marks.

Partly in response to individualizing pedagogies, post-Soviet citizens at times feel a “sense of loss of a certain social proximity, even uniformity” (Gille 2010: 278).
ACCEPTABLE:

UNACCEPTABLE:

Any idea you mention that is not your own must have a source attached to it. This is so whether it is an idea from an article, book, website, blog, online dictionary, class notes, or a classmate’s idea.
For example, when you paraphrase (i.e. put in your own words) an author’s thought, you must acknowledge the author.
ACCEPTABLE:
Childhood is a social construct (Montgomery 2013).
As Montgomery (2013) argues, childhood is a social construct.
UNACCEPTABLE:
Childhood is a social construct.
As Montgomery argues, childhood is a social construct. (incomplete)
