Argumentative paper

REQUIREMENTS
Argumentative paper (must have a thesis that can be argued)
2,250-2,500 words (9-10 pages; please note that 9 pages equals 8 full pages, not 8 pages and a few lines or 8.5 pages)
Must have Works Cited (not included in paper’s page requirement)
Must have 5 different reputable sources, from at least 3 different forms of media (You will lose points on the paper if you do not have the minimum number of sources.)
Must be in MLA format
Must have an original title
Refer to the Writing Workshops and the Writing Resources Module handouts for review.

TOPIC SUGGESTIONS
The subject of the research paper is up to you. I have provided a number of suggestions below. As always, you are welcome to alter any of these questions, or to create your own research paper topic. Some of the suggestions are based on readings not in our book, and I have provided links for them. Your topic must have an arguable thesis rather than it simply being a history or “a look at.” The key is for you to choose a topic that will sustain your interest, and that can have an arguable thesis.
Do not research any of the following subjects: abortion rights, same-sex marriage, gun control, climate control or other “hot topic” issues. These arguments have been discussed exhaustively, and I don’t feel that there needs to be more said. Also, please note that the Bible cannot be used as a sole source of support for any argument (it can be used as 1 source.)
Essays with * beside their name indicate that we have already read or will be reading the text in class. If we haven’t read it yet, please read it now if you’re interested.
Some questions have links. Other questions do not relate to any reading we have done.
You will need to get approval of your topic from me in the RP Topic assignment, due by 11/8, but you may submit at any time prior.
