Strengths

First, the SWOT analysis revealed that the department has many advantages because they have strong financial support from the government through waivers and insurance coverage. It also has a proper analytical system that helps organize data and solve any technical issues when attending to the families. Another strength is the availability of enough labor force and efficient personnel.addditionally, the organization performs very well in cubbing corruption. DCF is very objective for integrity and does not tolerate any corruption, which is advantageous because it does not spend time investigating. The organization is reasonably good and needs to strategize more to get better results. The department has been facing the COVID 19 pandemic, which has affected most organizations in the world. However, the department has benefitted from government grants, which has assisted in overall monthly allowance and the wavering of working conditions.

Weaknesses

The organization faces many challenges; one is the huge workload that they receive daily. Secondly, the department gives limited time to each case presented to them. They rush through the papers and may forget the simple and crucial details. Furthermore, it experiences a short time to engage with the community due to their ever-busy schedules. Moreover, due to the pandemic outbreak, the DCF has experienced numerous handling challenges and increases child abuse and poverty levels due to the imposed restriction on stay indoors to avoid contracting COVID 19. Besides, the department deals with cases of ethnicity and discrimination between the black and the whites. Some aspects brought to them are specific regarding the impact of children’s experiences from different backgrounds, races, and ethnicities.

Opportunities

DCF has the opportunity to have a more outstanding and updated training of its staff, to be on the know on matters arising in the state and the community on children’s affairs. It also can reach massive communities and expand its collaboration with government agencies and law enforcement bodies and courts to help build collaboration, share ideas, make deals, and partner with them to improve the living conditions for children who come to seek help from the. Furthermore, the children’s department of Florida has the opportunity to innovate along with the present trends, such as paying attention to the current options of kinship care. The department has the opportunity to use this time of pandemic to improve on structures that were not in a place like embracing the use of improvised technology.

Threats

One of the most significant threats in this department is the increased vulnerability of children to racial discrimination and backgrounds. The department is facing an increase in a case reported on discrimination. The department is trying its best to curb the issue but fear being overwhelmed by the considerable cases to deal with daily. Another threat is the inaccurate perceptions of child welfare since they do not take enough time to assess each case and may give inappropriate help to the affected children and families. (Peterson, Florence,&Klevens,2018).

Moreover, the fear of reporting cases of child abuseand neglect, especially from whites, is lower compared to those from black children who have a high rate of reporting cases, and the department fears that they could be many whites out there who face the same problem and broken families but do not report. DCF  faces another threat of an increase in struggling families as the virus continues to spread.

Additionally, the department feels that they experience high caseworkers’ turnover due to an increase in workload, leading to fatigue and emotional breakdown of its workers. It focuses more on dealing with children’s issues to the extent of forgetting their colleagues’ welfare.

Recommendations

As I take note of the SWOT analysis factors, I developed recommendations that could help solve and improve the organization’s weaknesses. One of them is that reforms that are not based on a culture that affects disproportionality should be checked. It can be done by reducing staff managers’ overrepresentation to advocate for permanency outcomes, such as tracking and supporting relevant practices. The effects could be overcome by testing the relationship between the numbers of children of color and permanency goals. They should implement models, such as family, to family and family to kids.

Another recommendation that could be good is implementing prevention programs targeting the minority families an children and families. Evaluations should be made concerning the intervention results and examining the program’s impact on race’s disproportionalities.(Chung, Siegel, Garg, Conroy, Gross, Long & Yin, 2016).  It would be necessary to investigate whether a particular minority group that had gone through the intervention was less likely to get in or out of the child welfare system than a similar group that had not experienced the intervention. A random control design would be essential in addressing the issue of intervention.

In a nutshell, the analysis that I have provided will be essential in making decision s on the organization’s directions. The department can focus on its weaknesses and threats as they maintain its strengths and explore opportunities. The recommendations are also  specific, measurable, can be assigned, relevant, and, most importantly time-based
