Studies look at the accessibility of text- and web-based interventions and they find that they are cost-effective, easy to access, and reach a broader population than conventional services and interventions. Research shows this to be true. In a study conducted by Wood & Thomson (2003), participants were given the option of using a text-based intervention to improve mood versus coming in to a clinic for a weekly group therapy session. The people who chose the text-based intervention will receive a text daily to ask about their mood. At the end of the study, the participants were measured for their mood. The people in the text-based intervention have better mood than the others.
