1. Presenting problem- What is your social problem, why does it matter, and why are you studying it. I always recommend putting a few statistics in here…
2. Review article 1- • Provide an overview of the manuscript/study, focusing on the sample, purpose, methodology, research question or hypotheses, findings, etc. • Follow with a critical appraisal of the manuscript/study. How does this help us better understand the social problem and what gaps does it illustrate? Consider the limitations section or the “future research will” sections as relevant.

Review article 2- • Provide an overview of the manuscript/study, focusing on the sample, purpose, methodology, research question or hypotheses, findings, etc. • Follow with a critical appraisal of the manuscript/study. Review article 4- • Provide an overview of the manuscript/study, focusing on the sample, purpose, methodology, research question or hypotheses, findings, etc. • Follow with a critical appraisal of the manuscript/study. How does this help us better understand the social problem and what gaps does it illustrate? Consider the limitations section or the “future research will” sections as relevant.

Review article 5- • Provide an overview of the manuscript/study, focusing on the sample, purpose, methodology, research question or hypotheses, findings, etc. • Follow with a critical appraisal of the manuscript/study. How does this help us better understand the social problem and what gaps does it illustrate? Consider the limitations section or the “future research will” sections as relevant.
7. Discuss what you learned by synthesizing your critical appraisal of the 5 articles, with respect to the social problem. Basically, what is the literature telling you about your social problem. Cluster into themes or main takeaways as relevant. Make this compelling! 8. Finish with this…what do we still need to find out? Identify a relevant gap- supported by the literature and propose one specific research question that you could potentially use for a study (your research proposal). Support this with captivating and realistic reasons as to why your research proposal matters and what your study will potentially help with.
