A community proposal essay

Write an argumentative essay where you accomplish all of the following:

1. Describe a very specific and concrete problem from a community with which you are familiar through personal experience or choose something that you would like to learn more about. Provide your readers with background information and persuade them that this is a problem that needs attention.

2. Propose or describe a solution that would solve your described problem. Solutions can be derived from your own logic and reasoning or borrowed from an expert, and you should draw upon outside sources to make it more practical and convincing.

3. Argue why your proposed solution is the best one for the problem you described. Make sure that your readers or target audience is one that can enact your solution (i.e. make it happen.)

4. Include at least one competing solution or negative consequence to your solution to demonstrate that you understand your solution fully and are not recommending without a full consideration of options, positives, and negatives.

5. Formulate this essay in an appropriate format considering your target audience. You may want to consider writing the essay as a memo, letter, or an introduction to a public hearing.

6. Include at least four outside, academic sources. Use APA format.
