*Remember: A primary source is the work itself, such as the novel or stories you write about. A secondary source is one that reviews, analyzes, comments on, etc. the primary source

Definitions:

-Bibliography: A list of citations information sources (books, articles, documents, websites or webpages, audio, video). These will be in MLA format. You can usually find the relevant information in the article or book, use the MLA handbook, or a “citation generator.” Ultimately, it is your responsibility to make the correct citation.

Annotation: A brief (often about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the purpose of which is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

Each annotated source is worth 10 points, and must include:

-Citation (2 points): A complete MLA citation in the appropriate format, with a reverse indent

*If you upload a citation from a site that is not from the Library databases, the entire entry will receive a 0. Library articles allow you to copy and paste, and it is the only acceptable citation.

-Summary (2 points): A sentence or two summarizing the author’s main point/ argument. If any of this is copied and pasted, it will show up on Turnitin.com and you will receive 0/50.

-Evaluation (6 points):

a) A statement about the type of source (e.g., a scholarly research article, an editorial from a professional magazine, a feature newspaper article, a chapter from a popular book, a U.S. government website)

b) A short evaluation of the credibility of the author to write about the topic, quality of the source, objectivity, etc.

c) Explain how this source will be useful/ helpful for your research.
