Case study analysis

This week you will spend time examining the issues that arise when an organization hires a top performer but spends little time monitoring his behavior, or how he accomplishes his results. High performing organizations often hire individuals such as Alex Sanders, who is featured in our case study, but then experience problems related to how to help the individual to perform effectively.

You will examine this case study by answering (at least) the following questions:

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using 360 systems as elements in an employee performance management system?

2 Did the organization make a good decision in implementing a 360 system? Was the execution appropriate?

3. Did Alex’s Manager (Sam) properly use the 360 programs to evaluate performance?

4. What factors are driving Alex’s behavior? Consider course concepts that have already been covered such as conflict, stress, personality type, etc. (Note, your self-assessment will help you to consider these areas).

5. What should happen next?

These questions, along with any other issues that you feel are important, should be summarized in a four-page paper, APA format, using at least 10 references beyond the case. The paper should flow logically and should integrate linkages to course materials, high performing organizations, and motivation, among other themes.
