“Mini-Experiments”

Page 290 has 3 personal mini-experiments on it. Try the first experiment (Increasing mindfulness in your relationship). If you have no significant other, try this on a sibling or close friend. These qualities can be just as important with them. What things did you notice? Also, asks this person, how your actions made them feel? (6 points).
I would like to clarify before you do this mini-experiment with a significant other or family member that some of you may become disengaged, unresponsive, apathetic, uninterested, emotionally absent, and almost rejecting of your loved one. That is mindlessness, not mindfulness. Nonjudging doesn’t mean that you are not present and that you detach from what you are experiencing. On the contrary, you are fully involved and responsive but refrain from evaluating, categorizing, and being partial or condemning of other people’s opinions or actions. In addition, nonstriving doesn’t mean that you don’t care about the future or that you have no goals. It means that you don’t fuzz, get irritated, frustrated, upset, or resentful when you don’t get what you intended to achieve. It means that you become more accepting of what is happening and become less critical and judgmental about yourself, the circumstance, and others.
