Pro-Abortion: “A Defense of Abortion” by Judith Jarvis Thomson (1971)

Reading Response guidelines:
You will be required to submit one short (3-page) responses to the required readings. You may pick any of the readings assigned, as long as they are on separate topics.
In your response, you should:
1) adequately explain what the author’s position is and how they defend it,
2) reflect upon the strengths and weaknesses of the essay. There are 4 possible grades for the reading responses:
Excellent (A) Your response is well written, you adequately explain the author’s position in your own words, demonstrate an understanding of the arguments, and make several interesting points that contribute to the discussion.
Satisfactory (B-) Your response is fairly well written, you explain the author’s position your own words, demonstrate some understanding of the arguments, and raise at least one interest point that adds to the discussion.
Unsatisfactory (D) Your writing needs lots of improvement, you do not adequately explain the author’s position in your own words, demonstrate an understanding of the arguments, and fail to offer any interesting points of your own.
Unacceptable (F) Your response is barely legible, demonstrates serious misunderstandings of the readings, and fails to offer any analysis.
