1. Happy Week Eight Everyone!
I believe my top area is ‘Seeking Support.’ The skill of communication is an important one in life, as it is in success. If a person cannot communicate successful, they will have problems. This is literally my strategy. I have a strong support team within my political family. The team has guided me through employment, personal, and professional. Each person is available 24/7 via text, email, or phone. I text periodically writing, when stressed, or wish for support. I believe in having that strong ‘go to’ person, or rolodex of people at hand is key to success. I learned that from my family who worked in the government. You must have a good network of people. Ruch et al. cites quality and nature of social workers’ relationships rely on interpersonal connections (2017). Another strategy is: I will continue to use a number of these people throughout the program for writing papers, assistance in placements, questions within field work, guidance on topics, and when stressed on assignments. I find peer support valuable. Since this is my third loop around into a graduate/ post grad./ PhD program, I am committed to never getting to the point of physical exhaustion. This is something I have spoke about and referred to often is self-care, and personal time. I am protective of my family, and personal time. With support from my groups and those around me, this will allow me to continue to be successful.

The most important step to plan for my success is time management and mind-set. These two are equally important to each other. Time management is plays a major role when it comes to being successful. Lack of time management can have you missing deadlines, procrastination, low energy that can lead to depression, and disorganization. Poor time management skills often make it difficult or even impossible for you to complete projects on time. Time management describes students efforts to budget the use their time purposefully and efficiently in order to increase the likelihood of achieving important educational goals within a given period of time. (Claessens et. al 2007; Koch and Kleinmann 2002).
Having a clear mind set to achieve your goals and becoming successful is also important as well. If your mind set is not clear or focus you will have a difficult utilizing your time and it can lead to depression. Staying positive and thinking positive thoughts can help to clear your way of thinking. Positive thinking corresponds to the latent dimension underlying life satisfaction, self esteem and optimism. These steps are important to me because life can bring all kinds of distraction. Having good time management and positive thinking has help me to not focus on the what if and the possibility. I write down my goals and also make a daily schedule that will help me to stay on task. These steps have help me in the past and present along with other helpful tools.

Written communication is essential to master the art of writing grammatically sound and correct. Yes, I am sure everyone that is enrolled in this class has successfully passed our freshman college year of English Grammar. If you do not use the tools to successful writing, one would be able to know and mistakes will stand out. There are others that experience life, and you get stuck in no man’s land. You proceed, yet, your brain isn’t clearly processing a or an, effective or affective… And you are in this horrible position where you have lost proficiency and tools for being successful at writing. Honestly, me, personally, I have no shame with stating I will take another English Grammar class. I am proof, I’ve earned my Master’s Degree, professional certifications, however; I survived life, somewhere in-between beating Pneumonia and Stroke, I lost the most important way to effectively communicate through use of appropriate grammar. I know that professional social work requires research, documentation, grant writing, and inter office written communication, to deliver the best patient centered care (Wesley, 2019). I’ve reflected on many different therapies, I endured during rehabilitation, why would I question and not think writing, being a skill-set, that requires effective work with applying and utilizing the fundamental rules of professional social work.

I am still needing improvements on which article to select that have the most important points. I have a lot of information and Ideas but focus more on social work language than speaking on my opinions. I always have a lot to say but be able to split the information so my paper won’t be to wordy. I think I am doing a lot better on grammar errors because I am proofreading thoroughly before I submit. I have a hard time making sure my references are done in APA format. For the most part this course have helped strengthen me in weak areas. I will take the tools that I have learn to ensure that my writing improves in my social work courses. I want to make sure all my papers are written clearly and concisely. I appreciate all the feedback received throughout the course I will use it to become greater with other courses in my field.
