Writing Directions
•You don’t have to officially submit one anymore, but I would recommend you create an outline based on the grading rubricfor your own point of reference. Make sure you are preparing for at least 5 paragraphs (introduction + 3 body paragraphs + conclusion). If you want, you can offer more than five paragraphs, but this is the bare minimum.
Remember, introductions show the readers how you would proceed with your argument. In pairing these texts, especially, make sure that you locate onecommon ground between them, and then critically look into thatcommonality–tell your readers your take on that common ground. This should be an ideal way to settle on a thesis.
•No plot summaries and make sure you are referencing the texts according to the MLA format (Times New Roman, 12 points, double spaced).
•Revise your topic sentences [pro tip: summarize whatever you have written in one paragraph at the starting of that paragraph while revising your paper]
•Try not to discuss multiple aspects in one paragraph, and it would help you to write your topic sentence easily.
•In writing the conclusion, you must signal –use proper transitional words/phrases in other words –that you are bringing your discussion to an end. Also, summarize what you have written in the body paragraphs, reinstate your thesis, and offer recommendation(s) for further studies.
