You are working in the pediatric clinic and have just walked in to see a mother and her one-week-old daughter. The mother tells you that she brought her daughter in today because she was concerned about some things she noticed while changing her daughter’s diaper. The mother goes on to tell you that her daughter’s vagina looks swollen and that she has noticed some mucous and a little bloody discharge. The mother reports that she hasn’t noticed any other problems. While assessing the infant, you note these findings as well. The baby is otherwise healthy with all assessment findings within normal limits.
