Overview: As the quarter comes to a close, you will reflect on your own interpersonal communication & group communication skills as you wrap up the class. This paper will be the ending point for you to reflect critically again on your own communication competence and how the concepts of the course have made you a more conscientious communicator. Throughout the course of this term, you have learned about various aspects of communication, including interpersonal, intrapersonal, intercultural, public, and group communication, in addition to the importance of language and listening. This paper will act as a bookend to your beginning of term self-reflection paper, and should act as a comparison to how this course has changed how you think critically about different aspects of the act of communicating, the perception of your own personal communication style, and what were major takeaway lessons you learned from this course.

Requirements: In this assignment, you will be required to write a reflection paper where you reflect critically again on your own communication competence and how the concepts of the course have made you a more conscientious communicator. The paper should be between 4-5 pages long (written in 12 pt. font, double-spaced, with 1” margins.) You will be required to use at least 5 major concepts learned from the class and how they specifically apply to you. You will be graded using the following criteria: content, proper engagement of the various terms and concepts from the textbook, organization, grammar, and including the proper use of APA formatting of in-text citations and References page. You will be required to turn this paper in to Canvas. No hard copies will be accepted.

Research: You will be required to cite a minimum of five concepts/theories/terms from the textbook. In addition, you are allowed to include reliable/credible sources from outside the class. High self-monitors vs Low self-monitors:
high self-monitors: pay close attention to their own behavior and to others’ reactions, adjusting their communication to create the desired impression. Low self-monitors express what they are thinking and feeling without much attention to the impression their behavior creates

self-concept: a set of relatively stable perceptions each individual holds about themself. It includes your conception of what is unique about you and what makes you different from others.

Pseudolistening: is an imitation of the real thing. When people pseudolisten, they give the appearance of being attentive when they really aren’t. They look people in the eye, nod and smile at the right times, and may even answer occasionally. That appearance of interest, however, is a polite way to mask thoughts that have nothing to do with what the speaker is saying.
