Clearly portrays a current problem or topic AND your position on that topic

Your position is made clear through the effective use of elements of satire NOT from explicitly stating your position in a thesis like you would in a traditional essay

an example is
A great example is the piece you read recently on school funding:

First, the author identified the problem that many schools are underfunded and could use more resources.

Next, the author wanted the audience to realize what a serious problem this is and get people to support reasonable responses for school funding.

Third, the author came up with a totally ridiculous/exaggerated solution, like gambling in schools, which he hoped the audience will be shocked by.

Finally, after the audience sees how ridiculous the idea of gambling would be to fix the school funding problem, the author hoped that the audience would then be more open to a more reasonable solution (maybe local levies, or tax revenue, or the legislature prioritizing education spending, etc…).

To accomplish this the author used a variety of satirical elements/tools such as irony, and matched it with a serious tone to convey his opinion. Contrast this with the much more light-hearted tone used in the parody about local news that we read by Dave Barry on page 280.

here is my planning, I would like you to go somewhat based off of this :
The problem I am focusing on is unemployment and there being not enough real jobs.
Problem in hyperbolic terms: Hard work and education does not pay off if there are no good jobs for you.
Ironic Solution: Just live with your parents your whole life and not get a job.
Addressed to people who do not know about unemployment rates and hope for the government to directly create new jobs.
Plan to use sarcasm, exaggeration, hyperbole, and irony
